A colocation request often starts with rack units. However, power consumption, power connections, air ducting, wiring, and operational access are just as important for actual planning. A free space in the rack does not automatically mean that the desired electrical and thermal load will fit there.
The operating limit should also be determined at an early stage. Who replaces hardware, who manages the operating system and who is allowed to use the rack outside of planned work? Such tasks are compared with the desired services; they do not result solely from the accommodation.
